Innovation in construction can arise in all facets of construction worldwide including: design, fabrication, building, detailing, rehabilitation, contract administration, labor relations, management, training, procurement, maintenance, equipment, materials, concepts or methods.

Innovation is characterized by having a positive, important effect on construction or service, improving quality and reducing time or cost.

• Recognizing and publicizing innovation encourages awareness and earlier adoption of innovations in an industry where it can currently take 30 years before an innovation is commonly accepted.
• The best way for anyone to recognize and reward an innovation is to submit it for nomination for the NOVA Award.
